How do I use Shopify Sidekick to check my Google Shopping feed?
Ask Shopify Sidekick about your Google Shopping feed, product approvals, syncs and Merchant Center connection without opening the Nabu for Google Feed app.
Nabu for Google Feed now works with Shopify Sidekick, the AI assistant in your Shopify admin. You can ask Sidekick questions about your Google feed in plain language. Sidekick reads the answer from our app and gives you a link to the right page in the app if you need to take action.
What can I ask Sidekick?
- How many of your products are approved, pending, disapproved, excluded or blocklisted on Google.
- What product data we are sending to Google for one product: title, brand, GTIN, MPN, price, availability, condition, image and Google product category.
- Why a product is not in your Google feed. For example, it is opted out of Google, blocklisted, or not available in Shopify.
- When we last sent your products to Google Merchant Center, and whether it succeeded.
- When we last read your product data from Shopify.
- Which Google Merchant Center account is connected, and whether the connection still works.
- How to get started with the app.
Follow the below steps to use Sidekick with our app:
- Go to Home in your Shopify admin and click the Work with Sidekick box.

- Type your question and mention Nabu for Google Feed. For example: "How many of my products are disapproved on Google in Nabu for Google Feed?" The first time, Sidekick asks Allow Sidekick to use Nabu for Google Feed for this request? Select Yes, or Yes, and don't ask again so it does not ask you every time. Then click Submit.
- To check one product, include its name, SKU, handle or Shopify product ID. If more than one product matches, Sidekick lists them and asks which one you mean. Reply with the product you mean. Sidekick then shows the listing status and the product data we are sending to Google.

- You can also ask about syncs and your Google connection. For example: "When did Nabu for Google Feed last send my products to Google Merchant Center?" or "Which Google Merchant Center account is connected, and is the connection still working?"

- Click the link in Sidekick's answer, such as View the variant in Nabu. It opens the right page in our app, so you can make changes there.

Other questions you can ask
- "Why is [product name] not in my Google feed?"
- "When did Nabu for Google Feed last read my products from Shopify?"
- "How many products are approved in my United Kingdom English feed?" If you do not name a feed, Sidekick uses the feed our app opens by default.
- "How do I get started with Nabu for Google Feed?"
Good to know
- Sidekick can only read data from our app. It cannot edit products, start a sync, or reconnect your Google account. To make a change, click the link in the answer and make the change in our app.
- Sidekick can tell you that a product is disapproved, but not why. To see the disapproval reason, open the product in our app. You can also check How to edit a Product in Google Shopping Feed app by AdNabu for Shopify?
- "Disapproved" and "not in the feed" are different. Disapproved means Google received the product and rejected it. Not in the feed means our app did not send it to Google.
- If your feed suddenly stopped updating, ask Sidekick whether your Google Merchant Center account is still connected. An expired Google connection is the most common cause.
- Product approval counts are calculated after each Merchant Center status sync. If Sidekick says the counts are not available yet, try again later.
- If no Google account is connected to the app, Sidekick will tell you there is no feed data to check.
That's all. You can now check your Google feed from anywhere in your Shopify admin.
