How to create a Shopify Category Metaobject mapping in Nabu Google Shopping Feed app ?
Here's how you can map Shopify's category metaobjects (like Color Pattern, Material, Size) to your Google feed attributes inside the Nabu for Google Feed app.
Configure in Shopify admin
- In Shopify admin, go to Products and open the product you want to update.
- In the Category field, pick the most specific category that fits the product (e.g.
Canvas Rolls in Painting Canvas). - Save the product. Shopify will automatically attach the category metafields for that taxonomy.
- Scroll down to the Category metafields section and fill in the values (e.g.
Color: Brown, Grey,Paper size: A4). Only the fields you fill in will be sent to your feed.

- Click Save.
How to add Shopify's category metaobjects ?
- In your Shopify admin, open Apps → Nabu for Google Feed → Settings.
- Go to the Product Customization tab and select Metaobjects from the left menu.
- Make sure Product Metaobject is enabled (toggle it on if it isn't).
- Click Add Metaobject.
- In the modal that opens, choose the Shopify metaobject (e.g.
Color Pattern - shopify), pick the field, then map it to the Google feed attribute you want (e.g.color). - Click Save.

How to identify Shopify metaobjects in the UI ?
Once saved, the mapping appears in the table below the Add Metaobject button. Each row shows:
- Resource — Product or Variant
- Metaobject & fields — e.g.
Color (Color Pattern - shopify)Shopify Category Metaobjects are shown with "(Shopify)" - Key — e.g.
shopify--color-pattern - Attribute — the Google feed attribute it's mapped to
- Action — edit / delete icons
Use the All / Products / Variants tabs above the table to filter the list.
