How to set up feed rules inside Google Shopping Feed app?
The Feed rule engine gives you powerful, visual tools to change your product data before it’s sent to Google Shopping
The Feed rule engine helps you fix, improve, and control the product data that is sent to Google Shopping — without changing your source system.
You pick which products should be affected (conditions) and then pick what to do to those products (actions). This guide explains the basics and gives easy examples you can copy.
Quick overview
- Condition = how you pick products (for example: title contains "leather", price > 50, or image missing).
- Action = what you do to the picked products (for example: add "[SALE]" to title, set brand to "AdNabu", or opt-out from feed).
- Scope = the country/language or category where the rule applies.
- Order / Priority = rules run from top to bottom in OR condition. Conditions that are in order and true will be triggered first.
How to setup feed rules?
- Go to Google Shopping Feed > Settings > Product Customization > Feed Rules

- Enable Feed Rules and click on "Add Rule."

- Choose the country and language where the rule should run.
- Pick the condition(s) that select which products the rule will affect. You can combine conditions with AND / OR.
- Choose an action that change product attributes or the product’s visibility in the feed.
- Save the rule and preview / test it. After saving, changes usually appear in a few minutes.
What conditions you can use?
These are the attributes you can test and ways to test them:
- All products — the rule applies to every product.
- Title — contains / does not contain / equals / starts with / ends with a string.
- Description — contains / does not contain a string.
- Score — compare AdNabu score (eg. < 70, >= 80).
- Price — numeric comparisons (<, <=, >, >=, =).
- Tag / Type / Size / Brand — contains / does not contain / equals a string.
- Category — applies to products in a selected category.
- Availability — in stock, out of stock, pre-order, backorder.
- Image — image available or image not available.
- Shipping weight— numeric comparisons (<, >, etc.).
You can combine conditions with AND / OR. Example: score < 70 AND image is not available — the rule triggers when both are true.

What actions you can perform?
- Opt-out — remove a product from Google Merchant Center feed when the condition is met.
- Opt-in — include a product in Google Merchant Center feed when the condition is met.
- Insert — add text to title or description when a condition is met (prepend or append).
- Customize — change Google product attributes (brand, price, availability, custom labels, etc.)
Examples you can copy
Here are a few ready-to-use examples. You can copy the idea and adapt the exact attributes to your store
Example 1 — Opt-out low-quality products
Goal : Don’t send low-quality products to Google.
Conditions : Score < 70 AND Image is not available
Action : Opt-out (remove from feed)
Result : Any product with score under 70 and no image will be excluded from the feed.
Example 2 — Add “[SALE]” to product titles on discount
Goal: Mark sale items in the title for visibility.
Conditions : Tag contains "sale" OR Price < 20 (or your sale price condition)
Actions : Insert "[SALE] " at beginning of title
Result : Titles will read "[SALE] Leather Wallet" for matching products.
Manage Your Feed Rules
- Your added rules will be visible on the Feed Rules page. You can disable/edit or delete a particular rule.
