# What to ask Shopify Sidekick about your Google feed in Nabu for Google Feed App?

## What you can do with Sidekick

Sidekick is Shopify's AI assistant in your Shopify admin. Nabu for Google Feed works with Sidekick, so you can ask questions about your Google feed without opening the app.

You can ask Sidekick:
* How to get started with the app
* Which Google Merchant Center account is connected, and if the connection is working
* How many products are approved, pending, disapproved, or excluded on Google
* What data we send to Google for a specific product
* Why a product was never sent to Google
* When your feed last synced to Google Merchant Center
* When the app last read your products from Shopify

## Before you start

You need:
* Nabu for Google Feed installed on your store
* A Google Merchant Center account connected in the app (for feed and product questions)
* Access to Sidekick in your Shopify admin

To open Sidekick, click the Sidekick icon in your Shopify admin and type your question. Mention "Google" or "Google feed" in your question so Sidekick knows to use our app.

## Example prompts

Copy any of these prompts into Sidekick. Change the product name or SKU to match your store.

### 1. Check how your products are doing on Google
Sidekick shows how many products are approved, pending, disapproved, or excluded. It also gives you a link to the filtered product list in the app.
* "How many of my products are approved on Google?"
* "How many products were disapproved on Google Shopping?"
* "How many products are pending review on Google?"
* "How is my Google feed doing?"

### 2. Check one product
Sidekick shows the product's listing status and the data we send to Google: title, brand, GTIN, MPN, price, availability, condition, image, and Google product category. You can search by product name, SKU, or Shopify product ID.

* "What is the Google status of Blue Runner 42 in US - English feed?"
* "What data did Google receive for SKU BR-42 in US - English feed?"
* "Is a GTIN being sent to Google for Blue Runner 42 in the US-English feed?"
* "What price are we sending to Google for product 8123456789?"

### 3. Find out why a product is not on Google
Sidekick tells you why a product was never sent to Google. The reason can be: opted out of Google, blocklisted in the app, out of stock, inactive in Shopify, or in draft in Shopify.
* "Why is Winter Parka not in my US - English feed?"
* "Why was SKU WP-01 never sent to Google?"
* "I can't find Winter Parka on Google. Why?"

### 4. Check when your feed last synced to Google
Sidekick shows when the app last sent data to Google Merchant Center, and if it succeeded, failed, or is still running.
* "When did my feed last sync to Google Merchant Center?"
* "Is a Google sync running right now?"
* "Did the last Google sync fail?"
![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/e/b/1/4/eb146ac45ce84800/image_117ot4i.png)

### 5. Check if the app has picked up your Shopify changes
Sidekick shows when the app last read your products from Shopify, and if it succeeded, failed, or is still running.
* "Has the app picked up my latest product changes from Shopify?"
* "When did Nabu for Google Feed last import my products?"
* "I updated a product price. Has it reached Google yet?"
For the last prompt, Sidekick checks both syncs. Your change reaches Google only after the app reads it from Shopify and then sends it to Google.

### 6. Check your Google account connection
Sidekick shows the connected Merchant Center ID and account name, and if the connection is working.
* "Which Google Merchant Center account is connected to my store?"
* "Is my Google connection still working?"
* "My Google feed suddenly stopped working. What's wrong?"
If the connection has expired, Sidekick tells you to reconnect in the app.

## What Sidekick cannot do
* **It cannot make changes.** Sidekick can only read your feed data. To edit a product, start a sync, or reconnect your Google account, open the app using the link Sidekick shares.
* **It cannot tell you why Google disapproved a product.** Sidekick can tell you a product is disapproved, but the reason is only shown in the app.
* **It cannot list missing attributes across all products.** Sidekick checks one product at a time. To see missing data across your catalog, use the product list in the app.
* **It does not list all your products.** For status questions, Sidekick gives counts and a link to the full list in the app.

## Tips for better answers
* Mention "Google", "Google feed", "Merchant Center" or your feed name like "United States-English" in your question.
* For one product, use the exact product name or SKU.
* Ask one thing at a time.
* "Rejected", "denied", and "not approved" all mean disapproved. You can use any of these words.
* GTIN, UPC, EAN, and barcode mean the same thing. You can use any of these words.

## FAQ
1. **Sidekick says no Google account is connected. What do I do?**
Open Nabu for Google Feed and connect your Google Merchant Center account. Sidekick cannot check your feed until an account is connected.

2. **What is the difference between "disapproved" and "not in the feed"?**
Disapproved means Google received the product and rejected it. Not in the feed means the app never sent it to Google. Each needs a different fix.

3. **Sidekick says a field like GTIN is empty. Is that why my product was disapproved?**
Not always. Sidekick shows what we send to Google, but not why Google rejected it. Check the reason in the app.

4. **Is the data in Sidekick live?**
Sidekick uses the latest data stored in the app. Some answers show when the data was last updated.
