Manage Content in Nabu for Sitemap App for Shopify

The Manage Content page gives you full control over what appears in your HTML and XML sitemaps and how search engines interact with your store pages.

From here, you can include or exclude content, and apply SEO tags like noindex and nofollow—all without editing code.

What is the Manage Content page?

The Manage Content page lets you:

  • Control visibility of store content in HTML & XML sitemaps
  • Decide which pages should be active or hidden
  • Apply SEO tags (noindex, nofollow) to specific items
  • Manage different Shopify content types from one place

This is especially useful for SEO cleanup, low-priority pages, or temporary exclusions.

Content Types You Can Manage

At the top of the page, you can switch between different content tabs:

  • Products
  • Collections
  • Pages
  • Blog Categories
  • Articles

Each tab shows the items pulled directly from your Shopify store.

Understanding Visibility Status

For each item, you can control its visibility:

Active

  • The page is included in both:
    • HTML Sitemap
    • XML Sitemap
  • Recommended for pages you want indexed by search engines

Hidden

  • The page is removed from both sitemaps
  • Useful for:
    • Draft-like pages
    • Low-value or duplicate content
    • Seasonal or temporary pages

You can change visibility:

  • Individually (using the item’s menu)
  • In bulk (select multiple items and use bulk actions)

SEO Tags Explained

On the right-side panel (or item actions), you can apply SEO tags:

Set to NoIndex

  • Prevents search engines from indexing the page
  • Use when:
    • Page should exist but not appear in search results
    • Internal utility or low-SEO-value pages

Set to NoFollow

  • Prevents search engines from following links on that page
  • Useful for pages with outbound links you don’t want crawled

⚠️ Note:

  • NoIndex affects search visibility
  • Hidden affects sitemap inclusion
  • These are different controls and can be used independently
