Articles on: Google Ads Conversion Tracking

What's the difference between “Last Sale Detected” and “Last Sale Received” in Google Ads?

Understand how AdNabu differentiates between sales seen by Google Ads and those actually recorded as conversions.

When syncing your Shopify conversions to Google Ads, you’ll come across two distinct timestamps on pixel detail page — Last Sale Detected by Google and Last Sale Received at Google Ads. While they may sound similar, they represent two different stages of how Google handles conversion data from your Shopify store.

1. Last Sale Detected by Google

Meaning:

This is the moment Google Ads first detects a sale from your Shopify store — when a conversion tracking request is sent and seen by Google Ads’ systems.

Example:

If a customer completes a purchase on Shopify and your tracking setup sends a signal to Google Ads, this timestamp records when that request reached Google Ads — even if the conversion isn’t yet processed or validated.

2. Last Sale Received at Google Ads

Meaning:

This timestamp marks when Google Ads successfully records that sale as a valid conversion. It confirms that Google processed the conversion event after verifying it.

Example:

Even if Google detected a conversion signal, it might only count it as a valid conversion after verifying the data. The time recorded here indicates when that validation happened.

Why the Difference Matters?

  • Accuracy checks: Helps confirm that conversions are not only sent from Shopify but also accepted by Google Ads.

  • Optimisation insights: Understanding both stages ensures you correctly interpret your last-sale data when optimising campaigns.
