What does confidence parameter mean in an experiment?

Confidence parameter is the success rate parameter for an experiment when mapped to Adwords. For example while testing landing pages, the visits/interactions is the number of clicks on ads and a success is nothing but a conversion in Adwords. This makes conversion rate the parameter being tested in the experiment. Similarly while testing ad copies - click through rate becomes the confidence parameter (visit = impressions, success = click)
