How do I set up Geo Redirects in Nabu Redirect Manager?
Geo Redirects detects your visitor's country and sends them to the matching storefront, either automatically or through a pop-up.
If you sell in more than one country, visitors often land on the wrong regional storefront and have to switch markets themselves. Geo Redirects does it for them. We read the visitor's country when the page loads, and then either redirect them straight to the matching market or show a pop-up that asks them first.
Geo Redirects is a paid feature. If you are on the free plan, clicking Geo Redirects in the sidebar takes you to our pricing page.
Follow the below steps to set up Geo Redirects:
- In our app, click Geo Redirects in the left sidebar. You will find it right after Wildcard Redirects.

- Turn on the Enable GeoRedirects toggle at the top right of the page. This toggle controls the whole feature. While it is off, no detection, pop-up, or redirect happens on your storefront.

- Open the Markets tab and click Sync. This pulls in the markets you have set up in Shopify, along with their countries, languages, and currencies. If you have not created any markets yet, click Open Shopify Markets to set them up in your Shopify admin first, then come back and sync again.

- Go back to the GeoRedirects tab and leave Automatic region detection switched on. This lets us detect the visitor's country from their IP address as the page loads.

- Choose your Default language. Keep Detect automatically to use the visitor's browser language, or pick a specific language if you want the pop-up to always appear in that language.

- Choose a Fallback country. We use this market when a visitor's country is not covered by any of your Shopify Markets. Your store's default country is selected for you.

- Select a Redirection mode. Auto-redirect sends the visitor straight to their country's market. Show modal shows a pop-up and lets the visitor confirm first. We recommend Show modal, and it is selected by default.

- If you chose Show modal, fill in the Modal content. You can edit the Header, Description, Country field name, Language field name, CTA label, and CTA color. Use the inserts {country}, {language}, and {currency} anywhere in your copy and we will fill them in from the visitor's Shopify market.

- Check the Preview on the right. It updates live as you edit, and you can switch between Desktop and Mobile to see how the pop-up looks on both.

- To show the pop-up in another language, click Translate content. We use AI to translate your copy and fill it back into all the fields, so you can review it before saving.

That's all — we'll take care of the rest. Once the feature is on, you can track how it is performing from the cards at the top of the page: Total Geo Redirects, Pop-up Shown, Acceptance Rate, and Top Country. All four compare the last 30 days with the 30 days before that.
Will Geo Redirects affect my SEO?
No. Bots and crawlers such as Googlebot, Bingbot, and AhrefsBot skip detection and redirection completely, so your storefront is crawled exactly as before.
What happens if a visitor closes the pop-up?
We remember it for that session and will not show the pop-up again on the following page loads. We also skip the whole flow when the visitor is already on the correct market URL.
Why are my markets read-only in the app?
Markets reflect your Shopify Markets configuration, so all edits happen in Shopify. Use Open Shopify Markets to make changes, then click Sync in our app to pull them in.
