How to create Facebook Custom Audiences from the Nabu Facebook Pixel app?

The Audiences page lets you build a Facebook Custom Audience from inside the Nabu for Facebook Pixel app. Pick an ad account and pixel, set the conditions, and the app populates the audience on Facebook so you can use it in your ad campaigns.

Open the Audiences page

  1. Open the Nabu for Facebook Pixel app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Click Audiences in the app's left navigation.

At the top of the page you will see:

  • An Ad Account selector (with a refresh icon).
  • A Visit Audiences button that opens Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Two tabs: Custom Audience and Errors.
  • A Create button.

Create a Custom Audience

  1. Confirm the correct ad account is selected at the top.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Audience Name — a clear name, e.g. "Cart Abandoners — 30 Days".
    • Ads Account — the Facebook ad account to create the audience in.
    • Pixel Selection — the pixel that feeds the audience (enabled once an ad account is picked).
  1. Choose how pixel data is handled:
    • Filter data (recommended) — excludes irrelevant events for a more accurate audience.
    • Do not filter data — includes every tracked event, useful for broader audiences.
  1. Click Next.
  2. Add the conditions that decide who joins the audience (for example, URL contains a value, or a specific event was fired).
  3. Set the Audience Retention — the number of days a visitor stays in the audience (up to 180).
  4. Confirm to create. The audience appears in the Custom Audience tab and starts populating on Facebook.

Manage your audiences

Each row in the Custom Audience tab has three actions:

  • Eye icon — opens Audience Details showing the audience type, rules, retention, and creation date.
  • View Summary — opens that audience in Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Trash icon — deletes the audience from the app and from Facebook.

Fix a failed audience

If you see a Failed badge, open the Errors tab to see the exact message from Facebook.

The most common error is:

(#2663) Terms of service has not been accepted.

To fix it, open the link in the error message, accept the Custom Audiences Terms of Service with the user that owns the ad account, then refresh the page. New audiences you create after that will sync correctly.

Tips

  • Pick the right Ads Account and Pixel before creating — an audience is tied to that ad account and cannot be moved later.
  • Use Filter data unless you specifically need every raw event.
  • Use the ad account selector at the top to switch between multiple ad accounts.
