How do I get admin access to a Meta business account?

Creating a new Facebook Pixel requires admin access on the Meta business account you selected. Here is how to get it.

When we create a pixel, Meta checks the role of the Facebook user connected to our app. If you only have employee access or partner access on the selected business account, Meta rejects the request and the pixel is not created.

There are two ways to fix this: ask an existing admin to upgrade your role, or connect a Facebook account that already has admin access.

Option 1: Ask an admin to give you admin access

  1. Ask an existing admin of the business account to open Meta Business Settings.
  2. In Business Settings, the admin clicks Users > People and selects your name from the list.

  1. The admin opens your access settings and changes Employee access to Admin access, then clicks Save changes.

  1. If your name is not in the list, the admin clicks Add people, invites your email address, and assigns Admin access. You then accept the invitation from the email Meta sends you.
  2. Once you have admin access, come back to our app and try creating the pixel again.

Option 2: Connect a Facebook account that already has admin access

  1. In our app, click Switch Facebook account on the error message.

  1. Log in with the Facebook account that has admin access on the business account.
  2. Approve all the permissions Meta asks for. Please do not remove any permission, as we need them to create and manage your pixels.
  3. Select the business account from the Business Account dropdown and click + Create New Pixel again.

If a pixel already exists in that business account, you do not need admin access to use it. Select it from the Pixel dropdown and continue with your setup.
